Earlier 20th century oil on canvas painting by the listed French/Belgian artist, Guillaume Lauters. Signed in the LR and Atelier Label verso, the painting is also indistinctly inscribed with a place name reading "St. ?". About 13.5 by 18 inches. Good and clean condition for its age apart from a tiny pinhole puncture and a tiny spot of canvas wear to the middle right. Note: FRAME IS NOT INCLUDED

The silk moire end pages are in an attractive apricot color as is the sewn-in ribbon page-marker. The exposed page ends are gilded for appearance and protection. It has numerous illustrations by the artist George Him and the frontispiece portrait of Shaw was painted by Richard Sparks. The book has been printed on a high quality off-white vellum-finish paper designed to last for generations, according to Easton. Condition is excellent.

In excellent condition aside from a small amount of lift to boards and rubbing of one corner of the gilding of the papers at the bottom.
